Set in Cunningham Falls State Park, this is a family-friendly morning with a 5k race for runners, a 1.4 mile untimed walk for those looking for a shorter outing, and a very short sprint for the littles, age 6 and under.
This is Frederick County’s most scenic 5k race. The course is paved with one challenging hill. You many not set a PR on this course, but you’ll know you ran through some beautiful Frederick County scenery.
Stick around to enjoy post-race refreshments, plus awards for the top finishers.
Race Day parking and race start at the beach parking lot off William Houck Drive. You can use 39.6265, -77.4634 in your navigation app or maps program.
Proceeds benefit the Friends of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks. Our funding and advocacy help the park staff provide for a safe and rewarding experience for park visitors. While your tax dollars pay for staff and infrastructure, the Friends provide meaningful events such as the annual Maple Syrup Festival and funding to assist with surprise expenditures or budget shortfalls.
