Dee’s Dash is being held in memory of Denise Schaefer – a loving mother, wife, teacher, counselor and coach who left us too soon on May 10, 2014 after a short battle with a blood infection.

Denise influenced so many young people around Montgomery County, particularly at Magruder High School in Rockville, where she served as a counselor and softball coach. Denise became a runner later in life – after becoming a mother. She accomplished the Marine Corps Marathon and completed the Iron Girl Half Marathon, just 2 weeks before her death. We hope to honor Dee, her perseverance, and her spirit with Dee’s Dash. It is never too late to achieve a new goal or dream. The Denise Wilson Schaefer Memorial Scholarship will continue that dream for a deserving Magruder High School student.
